Mouse Update: New Trailer Showcases Cartoon FPS Title's Gameplay

Mouse, the vintage cartoon FPS title, just released a new trailer showcasing the game's gameplay, featuring a grappling hook, spinach power-up, and many more!

The game's developer is Fumi Games and its publisher is PlaySide Publishing who both brought Mouse to the Triple-I Initiative showcase. The grappling hook will allow players to target designated points in a stage to quickly traverse the map.

The helicopter also adds vertical traversal to the game and gives players a chance to have reduced descent speed. The spinach power-up, on the other hand, increases the player's melee combat capabilities, which seems to be a reference to Popeye.

The CEO of Fumi Games, Mateusz Michalak, said that Mouse is incredibly important to all of them, noting that they are committed to making sure that it lives up to players' expectations. In the press release, he added that the goal was to create a game that mixes their passion for animation with their passion for first-person shooters, according to GameInformer.

Michalak told players that they would share more details about the upcoming title whenever possible and as development continues. He noted that their partnership with PlaySide and their dedicated team will work hard to bring the "finest grandboomer cartoon shooter ever created."

Mouse is an upcoming FPS that features art inspired by cartoons from the 1930s, most notably Disney's Mickey Mouse. The trailer comes a year after the game was first announced and it is expected to release no earlier than next year.

While players who are eager to get their hands on the game may have to wait quite a while, Fumi Games promised constant updates for the title in the lead-up to the full release. There is also an official Discord server for the game that was launched to support news and updates about Mouse.

Continuous Updates

So far, Mouse has been confirmed to become available for PC via Steam when it launches but it is entirely possible to come out on others as well. So far, fan reception of the first two trailers for the game has been positive and it would be surprising if it does not make it to consoles, said ComicBook.

The official X account for the game also did not respond to questions regarding the possibility of Mouse coming out to consoles when it launches. Fumi Games previously said that they plan to share more details with fans around release plans as soon as they can.

Mouse is sure to resonate with a lot of players who have gotten their hands on titles such as Cuphead as it gives classic gameplay formulas an old-school coat of paint. The trailer also shows the protagonist of the game, who is a private detective, going through the levels filled with his mobster enemies.

The game looks to remain incredibly striking in its homage to both 1930s cartoons and the era's noir films. One of the things that surely took fans by surprise is when the character in Mouse eats the so-called Spike-D Spinach that gives him bulging muscles to pound enemies to dust, according to PCGamesN.
