Dead Cells Devs Accelerate with Windblown, Promising Intense Roguelike Action

Seven years after the initial splash made by Dead Cells in early access, Motion Twin, the France-based indie studio, is revving up for their next highly anticipated release. A New Perspective for Motion Twin

Windblown represents a shift away from Motion Twin's trademark 2D style. Unlike their previous successes, this new title embraces a fully realized 3D perspective. This change offers players more freedom to navigate the world and engage enemies in each stage. The combat mechanics, reminiscent of titles like Hades, unfold from an overhead angle, ensuring players have a clear view of the action at all times. With a plethora of attack patterns, special abilities, randomized buffs, and loot, Windblown prioritizes fast-paced gameplay above all else.

Gotta Go Fast

Speed is the central theme of Windblown. Players are tasked with moving as swiftly as the wind, racing through arenas, stages, and biomes without pause. Unlike traditional roguelikes that might punish slow progress, Windblown is designed to keep players constantly moving forward. Encounters are relentless, offering no respite between battles. The game is structured for short bursts of rapid, chaotic fun, making it ideal for players seeking quick, adrenaline-fueled sessions.

The Path to Launch for Windblown

Following a similar roadmap to Dead Cells, Windblown will initially launch on Steam in early access, with an expected release date in 2024. During this phase, Motion Twin will actively solicit player feedback to refine and enhance the gaming experience. One notable addition in the pipeline is support for co-op play, allowing up to three friends to join forces in the action-packed gameplay.

However, console players may need to exercise patience, as a full console release may not come until late 2025 or even 2026.
