Google Glass Sold Out During Yesterday's One Day $1,500 Offer, White Model the Most Popular

Google Glass Sold Out During Yesterday's One Day Offer, White Model the Most Popular

I guess people had enough disposable income for Google Glass after all. The device went on sale to the public for one day only yesterday and the tech giant reported its supply sold out by the end of the offer.

Google reported that the white "cotton" colored Glass sold out in just a few hours, so we now know which model will likely be the most popular to the public. By Wednesday morning, Google was out of spots in its Explorer program, but said that it "may have more to share soon". It's important to note that Google did not supply us with the figures for how many openings there were in the program, so it's possible that they only had a small number to "sell out" in the first place.

The Explorer program is meant to let a limited number of users experience and test the device, allowing Google to collect data and feedback. Its mission as described by Google is as follows:

"To discover new places, sometimes we need to leave the map behind. And that's what Glass Explorers do. They are the first to make, to tinker, to create, to shape, and to share through Glass. We're expanding little by little, and experimenting with different ways of bringing new Explorers into the program."

Yesterday's sale was the largest number of people let into the program, and the first that you did not need a limited special invite to enter. Google likely wanted a larger group of people testing the product, but they may have something more planned now that more people have the device in-hand. As of now, no official figure has been given that indicates how many users were let into the Explorer program yesterday, but it's something I'd expect to hear eventually.
