Wargaming today announced that they are releasing the latest update for World of Tanks tomorrow, Thursday April 17, in North America. Titled 'Update 9.0: New Frontiers', PC gamers will find a new game mode, upgraded high-poly models, reworked battle arenas and an improved physics system.
The new game mode is called Historical Battles and it offers just that, allowing you to command historically-outfitted vehicles and recreate three of World War II's most iconic tank battles. The three historical battles included are: Operation Spring Awakening, the Battle of Kursk, and the Ardennes Breakthrough, aka The Battle of the Bulge.
What's more, some tanks will be upgraded with those new high-definition graphics that we were promised back in February. The American M4 Sherman, Soviet T-54, and German Tiger I are among the first ten tanks to be revamped with high definition models and textures. They will feature new physics functions as well, including blow-off turrets (upon explosion of the ammo rack) and realistic suspension behavior.
To celebrate and discuss this content, World of Tanks Producer Joshua Morris and World of Tanks PR Coordinator Jamie King will host a one-hour Twitch livestream tomorrow, April 17 from 2-3 p.m. PST. You can check it out here.
World of Tanks is a free-to-play action MMO and is currrently the most successful one out there.
