Naraka: Bladepont, a free battle royale game on Steam, released its Season 12 preview that showcases a new game mode that is a perfect match for its players, dodgeball.
The game's latest update will implement changes and add some new content, including hero adjustments, game mode changes, and a new event. The new dodgeball-like game mode is called Hot Potato Counter Mode.
New Dodgeball Game Mode
In this mode, players will gather in teams to pass around and shoot a ball targeting players that belong to another team. The game mode has a much less violent focus than Naraka: Bladepoint's baseline gameplay and makes players focus more on controlling the ball itself.
As players pass the ball around, it gets faster and faster and when it turns into the color red, that means that it is time to throw it at enemies. Teams will take turns attacking and whoever has the highest score at the end is considered the winner.
The new update noted that players can use normal attacks, focus attacks, counters, and hero skills in order to control the state and direction of the ball in this mode. The Hot Potato Counter mode will be launching with Naraka: Bladepoint's Season 12 which will be released in April, according to PCGamesN.
On top of the new game mode, another casual mode is already in the works for Naraka: Bladepoint that "focuses players into two teams and they duke it out using ultimates." These are players' strongest attacks that they can use and the three starting heroes for this mode will be heroes Tianhai, Feria, and Yueshan.

The new update will also bring hero adjustments to Hadi, Tianhai, and Tessa and the testing period for heroes will be launched a patch earlier. This would give players the chance to experience and provide feedback on the new heroes before they are officially launched in the game.
Season 12 will also have a new event that will run from Wednesday, Apr. 10, to Wednesday, Apr. 24, as the Festival of Water will have the Swarm enemies being transformed into the Hydro-Swarm and will have water-themed rewards unlockable during the duration.
Naraka: Bladepoint Season 12 Update
What sets Naraka: Bladepoint apart from other battle royale games is the focus on close-range combat and provides players with a melee battle experience that is founded on the mechanics of the rock, paper, and scissors game, said OneEsports.
Each player has three types of attack, normal, charged, and counter. Charged attacks are able to beat normal attacks, parries beat charged attacks, and normal attacks beat parries, which is similar to how a game of rock, paper, and scissors plays out.
Another crucial thing in the game is traversal as it is important to be able to flee from the zone and go around the map. The grappling hook is a tool that players can use to propel themselves across the map and allows them to reach high places relatively easily.
On top of being used for map traversal, grappling hooks can also be used in combat, either to grapple a fleeing opponent or to deal a small bit of damage to finish them off, or escape from a dangerous situation and reposition, according to The Gamer.
