Community Collaboration for a Kick-Free Experience
Arrowhead Game Studios CEO, Johan Pilestedt, engaged with the community after a player, known as "AliveWonderland," shared their frustration at being kicked from matches for using certain stratagems or weapons. Acknowledging the problem, Pilestedt expressed the difficulty in finding a resolution but welcomed suggestions from players.
"This is so sh***y. Also very hard to solve - we have some ideas but no conclusion," Pilestedt stated. "You know what, let's try this: Hive Mind - do you have a design suggestion for how to improve this experience?"
Proposed Solutions
One recurring suggestion that garnered attention from Pilestedt was the implementation of matchmaking filters. This would allow players with similar preferences, whether for casual bug-blasting or serious galaxy-saving, to connect more easily. Another idea involved enabling players to block recent teammates who had kicked them, preventing future matches with those individuals.
Pilestedt emphasized the importance of maintaining the host's authority to kick players, citing it as a deterrent against potential trolls. "That's why we have the system we have. The host is the owner of the game. It's their operation and they decide," he explained.
