Are you planning to return to Overwatch 2 anytime soon? If so, read up! The game has changed dramatically ever since Season 9 was released, so if you stopped playing Blizzard's hero shooter prior to the said season, then you need a bit of a refresher. Here are some useful tips to help you get reacquainted with the game:

Practice Makes Perfect

A lot has changed since Season 7 of Overwatch 2. Roadhog got reworked, Mauga was introduced, and Blizzard recently made significant adjustments to Pharah's kit. So, if you haven't played the game in a long while, then head to the Practice Range first, especially if you use any of the heroes that were just mentioned.

Don't Rely on Support Heroes Too Much

In Season 9, the company implemented a new change that reduces your reliance on Support heroes in Overwatch 2. Now, every time you receive considerable damage from the enemy, you can just go out of combat for five seconds and your health will regenerate automatically.

If you find that the healers in your team are busy, just go to a safe place for a brief period before heading back into the action.

Use of Mauga Highly Discouraged

Mauga is the newest hero that was introduced to the game. Although he is billed as a tank hero, he actually has enough firepower to destroy the members of the opposing team with ease.

Because he is too overpowered, many players frown upon teams who consistently choose Mauga over other tanks. Sure, no one is stopping you from picking Mauga, but if you can use other tank heroes, then that will be highly appreciated!

Be Dynamic

One way to ensure victory in Overwatch 2 is to not be stubborn and change heroes if the situation calls for it. The team that can adapt to whatever is happening in the match has a much higher chance of winning than those that don't.

Refrain from Engaging with Toxic Players

Toxic players are common in competitive games like Overwatch 2. Even though things can get heated in ranked matches (or sometimes even in Quick Play), restrain yourself from talking to people who exhibit toxic behavior. This is not only to keep your sanity but to also avoid any potential suspensions or bans.

Armed with these tips, I hope that you have a blast returning to Overwatch 2!
