Do you play Apex Legends on PC? If so, did you know that there is an FPS cap in place that prevents you from unlocking your system's true potential?

If you are unaware of that, yes, there is a cap that limits the frame rates the game produces. This is probably implemented as a way to make the game run smoothly on more modest systems. However, thanks to modern GPUs, this is no longer a problem, so it is a waste if you are not able to unlock the capabilities of your graphics card.

But, do not worry. You just have to do a few things on your part to rectify this. Here is how you can achieve higher frame rates in Apex Legends:

Remove the Cap

First and foremost, you have to remove the frame rate cap on Apex Legends. This is done by adding a command line string in the game's properties. Now, there is a slight difference in the way you do this depending on whether you are playing on Steam or via the EA App.

For the Steam version, go to your game library and look for Apex Legends. Right-click on it and select "Properties." In the "General" tab, add the following command line under Launch Options: +fps_max unlimited.

On the EA App, head to "Game Properties" and navigate to "Advanced Launch Options." From there, add the +fps_max unlimited command line under Command Line Arguments and then click confirm.

It goes without saying that the game should be closed when you attempt to do this.

Reduce Graphical Settings

If the graphics card you are using is two generations old at this point, you may want to tone down most of the graphical settings to "Low" or "Medium" to eke out every frame rate that is possible with your current hardware.

In addition, make sure that you disable V-Sync because it can hamper the GPU's ability to produce more frame rates. This is because the said feature was made to prevent screen tearing by putting a limit on the number of frames the game produces, which you do not need if you have a high refresh rate monitor anyway.

Keep Your GPU Drivers Up to Date

Occasionally, NVIDIA and AMD will put out new drivers that improve the performance of their graphics cards by a considerable degree. For this reason, you should make it a point to keep your GPU drivers updated, especially if a new one comes out.

Now that Season 20 of Apex Legends has started, will you be playing the game soon?
