Kojima's Vision for Physint
Kojima expressed that persistent requests from Metal Gear enthusiasts for a new installment in the series, coupled with a health scare in 2020, propelled him back into the action-espionage realm. The game, according to Kojima, is not just a typical gaming experience but rather a blend of a game and a movie. He highlighted the immersive cinematic quality of Physint, stating, "If your mother walks in and sees you playing this game, she'll think you're watching a movie."
Reflecting on his creative journey, Kojima explained, "Because I became independent, I wanted to do something new with my own IP." He outlined his progression from creating "Death Stranding" to its sequel and a project codenamed "OD." However, the persistent demand for another Metal Gear game and a personal health crisis in 2020 led him to reassess his priorities.
Overcoming Adversity
Reflecting on his creative journey, Kojima revealed a moment of crisis during his illness in 2020, considering retirement from game development. However, a renewed perspective on life and a desire to meet fan expectations prompted him to prioritize a new action-espionage game.
Despite Hollywood's pull towards filmmaking, Kojima remains committed to the gaming realm, supported by advice from collaborator Guillermo del Toro.
