The Walking Dead Game Released on Android Tablets and Phones, Play Episode One for Free Now

Telltale's excellent The Walking Dead series is finally making its way to Android phones and tablets. Season one is available now, and they're offering the first episode for free on the Google Play Store--a nice gesture!

The PC version came out in 2012, and was followed several months later by an iOS edition for iPad and iPhone. The game was a surprise hit, winning critical acclaim and being selected as game of the year by many publications. The series focuses on narrative and decision making, and is not a zombie-killing action title (though there are some simple action and shooting segments).

The game is set in the same universe as the popular The Walking Dead TV series, but follows its own characters and story. Season one spans five episodes which were released over the course of about seven months, but are now all available at once. The first episode is free, and the others will cost you $4.99 each, or you can buy them in a package for $14.99, which includes the additional 400 Days episode.

The series is really very good, and I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it on another platform already. Even if you have, it may be worth buying again on a new platform to make some different choices than you did it the first go-around. Telltale is also working on Game of Thrones and Borderlands adaptations.

Season two of the The Walking Dead game began this past December, and Episode two was just released at the beginning of March. You can catch up now on Android, and then play along with season two as it unfolds.
