Blizzard MOBA 'Heroes of the Storm' Trailer Features Starcraft's Kerrigan as Playable Hero [VIDEO]

Heroes of the Storm MOBA from Blizzard Gets New Trailer Featuring Starcraft's Kerrigan

Blizzard looks to be doing good work with its upcoming free-to-play Heroes of the Storm, a MOBA-style game that features many of the developer's famous properties. In a new trailer released today, Starcraft hero-turned-villain Kerrigan stars as her usual aggressive self.

The trailer shows gameplay footage of Kerrigan in combat as she narrates the difficulties of being a queen: keeping subjects in line (translation: killing people), settling scores (also killing people), and getting revenge (definitely killing people). "I am the swarm," she declares, "and vengeance has never looked this good."

Heroes of the Storm will also feature characters and influences from Warcraft and Diablo in addition to Starcraft, providing plenty of material for Blizzard to employ.

The game certainly falls in the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) and action RTS genres, but Blizzard has maintained they don't wish to call the title a MOBA for whatever reason. They prefer the name 'Hero Brawler', but I'm not exactly sure what the differences between the two would be (or what Hero Brawler as a genre even is).

Kerrigan is made to look quite powerful in the trailer, though I'm sure there are pros and cons to playing as her, like there presumably are to every hero in the game. She starred in the last Starcraft 2 release, Heart of the Swarm.

Heroes of the Storm will be available on PC and Mac OS X with a free-to-play model supported by microtransactions, which hopefully will not unbalance the game. It's currently in a limited-invite Alpha stage of development.
