Magic 2015 Coming to Xbox One and Almost Every Other Platform This Summer, but Not PS3 or PS4 [VIDEO]

Magic 2015 Announced, Coming to All Platforms Except PlayStation

Magic 2015: Duels of the Planeswalkers is coming to nearly every platform out there--with the glaring exclusion of any PlayStation consoles.

The latest video game version of the famed card battling game will be released for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, iPad, Android tablets, and even Kindle Fire. It will not be coming to PlayStation 4 or PS3, made even stranger by the fact that it appeared on Sony's console last year.

The game is almost entirely about battling your customized deck locally against AI, and against human opponents online. There is a story connected to the campaign though, featuring the cursed Garruk Wildspeaker as he hunts down the other Planeswalkers--including you, the player. This year's version is supposed to have more in common with the original physical card game, and includes the ability to add cards from a booster pack to any deck.

Magic 2015: Duels of the Planeswalkers is once again developed by Stainless Games, based in the Isle of Wight. Like the real card game, it will be published by Wizards of the Coast. I reached out for a comment on why the game will not be coming to any Sony consoles, but have not heard back from the publisher. This post will be updated should we obtain further details. A trailer for the announcement of the game is below.

The Magic the Gathering card game has been running since 1993, and has retained an avid following since its debut--there were an estimated 12 million players in 2011. The first Duels of the Planewalkers video game was released in 2009.
