Tribes 3: Rivals won't be out until later this year. However, developer Prophecy Games invites players to its first-ever tournament as a way to test the game out. Sign-ups are now underway!
What is It?
For those who do not know, Tribes 3: Rivals is the next installment in the Tribes franchise. It is an upcoming frenetic team-based, first-person shooter with a unique mechanic. Players can traverse the map by "skiing" and utilizing jetpacks to soar high. This game is unlike other first-person shooters out there because aiming is quite challenging on this one, especially when players are airborne.
It employs the "Capture the Flag" game mode where two teams of five will try their best to get the opposing group's flag and run toward their home base without getting killed.

Time to Go Competitive
Prophecy Games has announced that it is inviting players to join the game's first Rival Rumble Tournament. Unlike previous playtests in December where only a limited number of people were able to try the game out, the upcoming tournament does not have any limit. This means that anyone can get in as long as they are able to sign up. Players might want to enlist themselves in the tournament because there is a hefty $4,500 prize waiting for those who will come out on top!
The company will hold two separate tournaments; one for the North American region and the other for the EU. The battles will commence on January 27, with sign-ups still available until January 25.
After January 25, the company will select team captains "based on interest." These captains are going to select their members via a draft. Full details about this may be revealed soon, but for now, players are encouraged to sign up for their spot in the tournament.
Interested players can go to the Tribes 3: Rival's official website and press the aptly named "Signup" button to join.
Release Date
So, when will Tribes 3: Rivals be released? According to Prophecy Games, it will be launched sometime in the first quarter of this year. The tournament is surely a way for the company to see if there are any issues that still need to be addressed before the official release.
