What is Follower Dungeons?
The Follower Dungeons feature permits players to access Normal Dragonflight dungeons accompanied by a group of NPC allies. This mechanic offers several distinct advantages, allowing individuals to:
- Embark on Dungeon Quests with NPC Companions: Enter all eight Dragonflight normal mode dungeons alongside NPC party members.
- Flexible Queueing Options: Queue solo or with up to three other players, with NPCs filling in any remaining spots.
- Experiment with Roles: Control the pace of NPCs, enabling players to try out new roles and experience dungeons at their preferred tempo.
- Immersive Interaction: Interact with familiar WoW characters from the Exile’s Reach starting experience, as these NPCs mirror player actions by jumping around, providing commentary, and offering guidance during encounters.
This feature offers a low-stress environment for players to explore various roles and dungeons at their own pace, aiming to reduce the pressure associated with learning roles like tanking or healing. It's seen as a way to encourage more players to experiment and engage with different aspects of gameplay.
Moreover, the introduction of Follower Dungeons sets a precedent for future content in the game. Drawing comparisons to Final Fantasy 14's Duty Support system, which uses NPCs to aid players in story dungeons, this innovation might allow WoW to integrate dungeons more seamlessly into its narrative, especially in the ongoing Worldsoul Saga.
