The survival crafting game LEGO Fortnite is shaping up to be one of the best games of 2023. However, despite its popularity, a lot of players are just finding out that a game that is centered around putting up structures and creating villages has a build limit.
Those who got hit by this error have gone to Reddit to voice their frustration, saying that the game needs to step up if it wants to be popular for many months to come.
Build Limit Too Restrictive
LEGO Fortnite is not a standalone game. It is actually built into Fortnite itself, which means that most of its assets are based on the famous battle royale game. This is likely the reason why there is a build limit so that things do not go out of hand when people are trying to create humongous structures and complex villages.
Well, it seems that this build limit is too restrictive as one disgruntled LEGO Fortnite player would say. Redditor Mogami_MGA posted screenshots of their creations on Reddit, showcasing what one can do if they let their imagination run wild. Unfortunately, they were hit with a "Very high building complexity" error that forced them to stop what they were doing.
Mogami_MGA gave some context as to what happened. They said that they had planned to create a "big chunky castle" with a town around it. The castle was made of smaller floor pieces instead of the much bigger ones. Since the smaller pieces use a lot more of the game's resources, the disgruntled Redditor surmised that it could be the cause of the "complexity" error. Had they known about this build limit, they would have done things a lot differently.
Aside from that, the airship that they had painstakingly created out of Fortnite assets, exploded and fell apart, which forced them to start over.
Many LEGO Fortnite players agree with the original poster's frustration. Redditor kirakyaw said that many people actually love this game, but the developers need to resolve the issues concerning the building limit, as well as how many villagers can inhabit a settlement.
"Build limit is very discouraging. Every time I think about building a big structure I get disappointed because I probably can't actually make it. I hope they find a way to allow an infinite build limit," said another frustrated player.
One Redditor said that they used to be addicted to the game until they were hit by the same building complexity error. They added that putting a build limit in a game about putting up buildings is just "wild."

Game Needs Improvement
LEGO Fortnite is a great game. However, it certainly needs to be improved, especially if it encourages players to construct majestic buildings and build lively settlements.
While things are looking dire at the moment, some remain hopeful for the future of the game. Redditor emmy0777 said that while they are bummed out by the restrictive build limit, they are hoping that the developers will be able to address it in the future.
Right now, it is possible that the developers who are responsible for most of the important aspects of the game might still be on Holiday break. Hopefully, they do something about this when they get back to work.
