The strategy action RPG Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord got a new update recently that introduced a lot of new features to improve realism. One of the most notable is the addition of weather effects in the game.

Fight in Rain or Snow

Those who have played Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord for quite some time now may be bored with how the game looks, especially since the ground where the battles take place only alternates between grassy and gritty. But, that has all changed thanks to the massive Patch v1.2.7.

Now, rain and snow will occasionally appear during missions or on the campaign map. Of course, this depends on a couple of factors, including the region where the players are situated, as well as the current season.

The wet or snowy grounds are not just for show. These weather effects actually reduce the movement speed of mounted infantry and cavalry by 30%. On top of that, the time it takes to prepare a siege is doubled, so players have to plan accordingly if they want to be successful on the battlefield.

More Refined Targeting System

For a long time, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord players always had their units assault a bunch of enemy formations at random. This makes combat pretty annoying whenever players want a specific group to be attacked.

Luckily, the developers have addressed this by giving players the ability to target a specific enemy formation. To do this, players must simply hover over the enemy group they want to attack, and when it is highlighted, they can issue a charge or engage order depending on what their desired outcome is.

The charge order prompts the players' units to rush into an enemy formation, while the "engage" order will have the units attack in an orderly fashion. No matter what the player chooses, it is nice to see that the developers have finally given them a way to pinpoint opponents in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord.

Game Made Easy

Players who are enjoying this strategy action RPG on consoles can make the game incredibly easier by enabling the new cheats that have been added in Patch v1.2.7.

Some of these cheats are:

  • Add 1,000 Gold

  • Add 100 Influence

  • Add 10 Crafting Materials Each

  • Give 10 War Horses

  • Unlock Fog of War

  • Give 5 Troops

  • Heal Player Party

  • Unlock All Crafting Recipes

Highlights

TROOP AI IMPROVEMENTS

  • Troops and characters with higher fighting skill levels now fight notably better than lower-level troops. This was achieved by expanding the available AI's ability range in order to better map the AI troops' given fighting skills to the AI fighting level used by the troops.

  • AI tournament participants now become progressively better at fighting by making smarter decisions in non-initial rounds. Fights will therefore become increasingly more challenging as the rounds progress, making winning them meaningfully more difficult.

  • The siege engine redeployment process will now take some time like the initial construction (shorter).

RANGED WEAPON PENALTIES

  • Introduced further ranged weapon penalties to non-mounted troops when riding. If a troop has 0 riding skill, the below penalties will apply. These are then reduced and eventually removed when a troop reaches 100 or above riding skill.

  • Increased reload speed penalty and weapon readying speed penalty from 20% to 30%.

  • Increased the time needed to achieve maximum accuracy by increasing the penalty from 20% to 30%.

  • Increased the weapon inaccuracy multiplier from 40% to 1500% which will significantly widen the crosshair.

CRAFTING

  • Changed "Legendary" and "Masterwork" crafting requirements:

    • "Legendary" items can only be crafted from crafting parts with a combined average tier of 4.5 and higher.

    • "Masterwork" items can only be crafted from crafting parts with a combined average tier of 3.5 and higher.

    • Slightly increased crafting chances for "Fine", "Masterwork", and "Legendary" items if the crafting difficulty requirements are met.

    • Lowered the "Master Smith" perk effect to 7.5% chance to craft a "Masterwork" quality.

So, what can you say about the new weather effects in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord?

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Patch v1.2.7 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
