World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery has introduced a way for players to create amazing builds via the new Rune Engraving system. However, one class may have become way too powerful compared to others, at least, according to the community.
Too OP?
Disgruntled players took to Reddit to voice their opinion about Paladins being too overpowered since World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery launched earlier this month.
Redditor @Miilloooo said that they were doing some quests with a couple of friends when a Paladin came and wiped them all out. They were all level 25, so it was baffling to the Redditor why the assaulting player was able to eliminate each one of them in just a few hits. As if that's not insulting enough, the Paladin was able to heal themselves to full health after the attack as if nothing happened.
Judging by the annoyed Redditor's statement, the aggressive Paladin may have used Avenger's Shield to wipe them out. Avenger's Shield, for those who are new to World of Warcraft, is an ability exclusive to the Paladin that allows them to hurl a holy shield at the enemy, dealing damage based on their spell power and attack power. This affects up to three total targets, so long as they are nearby.
It is also likely that the Paladin in question was using the Horn of Lordaeron, which is another ability that grants them increased strength and agility for a limited amount of time.
Redditor @remeez replied to the post saying that Retribution Paladins, along with "Tank" Warlocks, are the classes they do not want to mess with. Paladins, specifically, can render victims helpless because most of them use Hammer of Justice as an opener. This is an ability that enables Paladins to stun a target for a whopping six seconds!
Effective Counter?
While Ret Paladins are scary, especially if players do not have any reliable way to keep them at bay, there are certain classes that can deal with them effectively.
Redditor @d0nghunter recommends players to level a "Tank" Shaman. This build can take hits from a Ret Paladin without too much of an issue. On top of that, Shaman has "Purge" - an ability that lets them remove one buff from the enemy. If the going gets tough, just run away while casting Purge to remove any attack buffs the attacker might have.
Hunters are effective counters against Paladins as well. Because most of the Paladin's abilities require them to be at melee range, the Hunter could just use Aspect of the Cheetah to get a significant movement speed boost and then just run away while shooting at the attacker that's chasing them.
The only time that a Paladin can wreck a Hunter is when the fight starts at melee range. Avenger's Shield can also be utilized, but that is if the attacker is able to burst the target down with their other abilities.
Have you played World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery lately? If so, what can you say about Paladins becoming too OP since the Rune Engraving system was introduced?
