After a string of delays and trademark disputes, The Day Before is finally available on Steam's Early Access. However, this $40 title is not off to a good start, with players having trouble with server issues, weird glitches, and a seeming lack of threatening zombies. Things are looking so horrible for the game right now that it is suffering Redfall levels of bad.
A Myriad of Issues
In the months leading up to the game's release, developer FNTASTIC was hard at work in delivering gameplay footage to entice players to spend $40 for the game. While there were people in the community that got hyped, some were skeptical. TS-Slithers wrote it nicely earlier this year by saying that FNTASTIC just wants to lure a lot of people in and pull the rug from under them at some point. Well, that time has come and many people are definitely scammed.
For those who do not know, The Day Before is marketed by FNTASTIC as an open-world survival MMO where players scavenge for resources while fighting zombies roaming around the city. The problem is that the game is far from that. As reported by some players who have already tried it, the game is actually an extraction shooter.
"Ummm it literally says in the steam description... Open-world MMO. It actually says it in the trailer as well. Which... is not what it is at all... this game is a dumpster fire and I was one of the optimistic ones," said Redditor @bdm634.
Another Redditor said that despite all of the red flags, the company still managed to catch the community by surprise. Besides the false advertising, The Day Before's problems do not stop there.
It seems that everywhere a player goes, there are sirens going off to give the impression that the threat is real. They are not only annoying but they don't serve any practical purpose whatsoever.
Redditor @EvvilTwinn99 shared their experiences about the game as well. They cited that there are hardly any zombies at all, so there's really no danger when traversing the city. The Redditor only had fun when it came to the PvP aspect, where they were able to shoot and kill other players. However, they pointed out that the gunplay leaves much to be desired, so much so that the Redditor wants to "stay away" from that aspect entirely.
While some players were able to have a taste of how bad the game really is, there are those who are not able to log in at all. This prompted FNTASTIC to release a tweet stating that the North American servers are working, albeit they "fill up too quickly."

Too Much to Handle
With so many negative reactions to the game, the company had to lock most of its channels on Discord to let things cool down for a bit. The company also stated that it would send the bug reports to the development team, but because these issues are so severe, it is very unlikely that the developers can do anything about them in a short amount of time.
