Keychron, the company renowned for its amazing keyboards, is dipping its toes into the gaming industry by offering a new mechanical keyboard with switches that allow players to adjust the sensitivity to their liking.

Hall Effect Switches

A lot of people, especially gamers, prefer using mechanical keyboards over their rubber-dome counterparts. That's because they not only feel great to type on, but they typically come with switches that only require a bit of force to actuate.

Most mechanical keyboards on the market only come with switches that have a fixed activation point. This is the exact point where a key press is registered on the screen. While having a fixed activation point is fine in most cases, there are some who would prefer the ability to adjust that according to their preferences. Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to tweak this somehow? Well, that is what Keychron is trying to do with its latest offering, the "Keychron Q1 HE."

The "HE" in the product name refers to the keyboard's "Hall Effect" switches. These are analog switches that allow users to adjust the activation point to suit their needs. Those who are playing competitive games can set the switches to actuate with just a light tap for faster response times. Conversely, people who type a lot can adjust the Hall Effect switches so that it would require a bit more force to actuate, thus preventing accidental key presses.

There's also a rapid trigger feature that lets users register the same key without having to fully lift their finger off. This is very useful for gamers who want to do some quick movements in the game to gain the upper hand.

In addition, users can utilize the keyboard's companion software to take advantage of the switch's analog sensitivity. They can even set as many as four commands if they want to!

The keyboard's mechanical switches already come pre-lubed right out of the box, so the typing experience is most likely going to be great without any tinkering. Furthermore, the company states that owners can install low-profile keycaps on this keyboard since it uses standard MX stems.

How to Order

The Keychron Q1 HE is currently available on Kickstarter, where interested buyers can pledge $214 to get their hands on this magnificent keyboard. Those who want to buy the barebones version (with no switch and keycaps) can pledge $194 to obtain it.

This mechanical keyboard comes in two color options: Carbon Black and Shell White. It also uses PBT keycaps for that amazing typing feel. Other things that the fully assembled version comes with include a Type-C Cable and keycaps for Mac and Windows layouts.According to the company, shipping begins in February of next year and those who have pledged may receive their keyboards in March. At the time of writing, the Kickstarter campaign already has 584 backers, so those who still want to get their hands on the Q1 HE in March must make a pledge as soon as possible.

People who were not able to back the Kickstarter campaign up in time can wait until the keyboard is officially available in Keychron's online store.
