Street Fighter 6 was beloved by fans and critics alike when it launched earlier this year. However, players are not happy with Capcom's recent move where the company is selling overpriced skins in the game.
Outrageous Pricing
It seems that Capcom is following in the footsteps of Activision-Blizzard and EA when it comes to egregious monetization schemes. A few days ago, the company launched an update that introduced new costumes for Street Fighter 6 characters called "Outfit 3." The premium skins actually look good and players have the option of choosing multiple colors of the outfits if they want to change things up a bit. Now, the costumes, themselves, are not the problem. The issue here is the pricing of these skins relative to how Fighter Coins are being offered in the in-game store.
For context, Fighter Coins (FCs) are the game's premium currency which can only be acquired by paying real money. Players cannot get this through any other means, which is a bummer. Anyway, one premium skin from the new Outfit 3 line costs 300 Fighter Coins. When browsing through the store, people can easily see that the game does not offer 300 FCs upfront. Instead, they are sold in the following quantities: 250, 610, 1,250, and 2,750.
What this means is that for players to get a hold of just one premium skin from Outfit 3, they have to spend $12 (because 250 FCs cost $5.99) for it. To make matters worse, there are currently 18 playable characters in the game, so those who want to obtain everything from the new line of costumes must spend about $100 worth of Fighter Coins to do so.

Community Outrage
Capcom has been dead silent about any information regarding the pricing of Outfit 3. Well, it is now easy to see why. The skins are priced high and there is no way to purchase Fighter Coins in specific amounts, forcing players to spend more money than they have to.
With that said, fans took to Twitter to voice their anger about this scummy practice. User @MadnessNX did not mince words, stating that they felt hurt because they praised the game for its amazing quality when it launched, but it is now mired in controversy because of the absurd cosmetic pricing and lack of communication toward the fanbase.
They added that while they understand this decision did not come from the developers but someone from the higher ranks, at the end of the day, this predatory behavior will make the game forgettable in the future.
User @Ganainm1916 is in agreement with @MadnessNX. "Dreadful pricing. You've handled this game so well up to now but this is incredibly disappointing. People need to vote with their wallets and send the message that this is unacceptable," they said.
Despite the absurd pricing, one user replied that they played Street Fighter 6 just recently and found a handful of people using Outfit 3. As long as people are buying microtransactions, gaming companies will always take advantage of those who are gullible enough to part ways with their money.
What do you think? What should the players do to force Capcom to change its microtransaction pricing moving forward?
