Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Lets Druids Enjoy a Much Better 'Wild Shape" Spell

Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Lets Druids Enjoy a Much Better 'Wild Shape" Spell

Are you enjoying the Druid class in Baldur's Gate 3? If so, which of the Wild Shape animals do you typically use the most? Well, if you have overlooked quite a number of animals the Druid can transform into, this one mod might entice you to try them out.

What is It?

The Druid is a character class in Baldur's Gate 3 that has the ability to transform into various animals thanks to Wild Shape. This spell is unlocked at level 2 and while the animals are not that good early on, the animals do get stronger when you reach higher levels.

That being said, certain animals rarely get used because they either lack damage or do not provide enough utility to be worthwhile. That all changes thanks to a relatively new mod called "Druid Wildshape Viability," which is being developed by a created named "Syrchalis."

So, what does the Druid Wildshape Viability mod do? Well, it tweaks the Wild Shape spell so that animals you can shapeshift into have a better purpose. Certain changes have been made in terms of the animal's stats for balancing's sake, but these adjustments actually make them a lot better than the original.

The Badger is one of the animals that have been heavily improved by this mod. First of all, Burrow now gains a new effect where enemies gain "Disadvantage" on attacks against you. Disadvantage, if you don't know, is a condition in Baldur's Gate 3 where each action is rolled twice and the game uses the lower roll for that specific action. In this case, if enemies try to attack you, the lower result will always be taken, which means that they have very little chance of hitting you or they deal very low damage.

Another major change for the Badger is that its claw attack has been removed. It is replaced by "Multiattack" and, as the name implies, it will prompt the Badger to initiate multiple attacks on the enemy for more damage.

The Wolf is now more of a supporting character that provides its allies with amazing buffs. It gains three new abilities: Feral Surge, Leadership Aura, and Interrupting Bark. Feral Surge grants an ally an extra action they can use in the current turn. Leadership Aura empowers the Wolf's allies to deal additional "Force" damage. Interrupting Bark inflicts Thunder damage to nearby foes and silences them for one turn.

The Saber-toothed Tiger gains a couple of new spells as well. The first is "Primal Roar" which has a chance of "Frightening" nearby enemies. The second new spell is called "Savage Swipe." When used, it deals damage to enemies in an arc, and enemies that are Prone, Frightened, or have Shredded Armor take even more damage from the attack.

Better Druid

Aside from the Druid Wildshape Viability mod, Syrchalis also recommends that you use its accompanying "Druid Quality of Life" mod. This is an amazing mod that virtually makes the Druid so much better than ever. For instance, the Druid gains a new passive called "Druidic Initiative" which allows it to cast Wild Shape for free on the first turn.

Certain actions, such as lockpicking, disarming traps, and pickpocketing, are now possible even when the Druid is in any Wild Shape form.

So, are you going to install these two mods anytime soon?
