The Next Call of Duty Game Will Take Players to the Gulf War

The Next Call of Duty Game Will Take Players to the Gulf War
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was released earlier this month. However, a new report suggests that the next entry to the popular first-person shooter franchise is another Black Ops game, which may be set in the Gulf War.

Take the Fight to the Gulf War

According to a recent report, Black Ops 6 will focus on the story of the Gulf War, specifically the United States' role in the said conflict. Unlike more recent Call of Duty games where players can use futuristic gadgets to take out their opponents, Black Ops 6 might take on a more traditional approach. Players are likely to get a hold of weapons that were used in the Gulf War, such as the Beretta M9 pistol, the M16A2 assault rifle, and the Barrett M82 sniper rifle, to name a few.

Returning Maps

Black Ops 6, just like recent entries to the Call of Duty franchise, might also launch with some returning maps, including Grind and WMD.

First introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops II and subsequently featured in Black Ops 4, "Grind" is a map where most gunfights happen indoors. Some Killstreaks, such as Hellstorm and Lightning Strike, are useless in this map due to the presence of roofs. However, players can utilize other Killstreaks like the Autonomous Ground Robot (A.G.R) to make quick work of their enemies.

On the other hand, "WMD" is a larger map that was released in the original Black Ops game, and then subsequently featured in Black Ops 4 and Black Ops: Cold War. Unlike the Grind map mentioned earlier, WMD is great for eliminating enemies from a distance due to the sniping posts present on the map.

If these maps are going to return next year, fans might be enticed to purchase Call of Duty 2024 once it becomes available.

Early Access?

In true Activision-Blizzard fashion, the company is thinking of potentially making the game available early to those who are not shy of parting ways with their money. According to a tweet by @charlieINTEL, the company is heavily leaning towards giving early access to those who will pre-order the game. They added that players may have access to the base game several days before the official launch, while the popular Zombies Mode may be available weeks prior to that.

This is not the first time that Activision-Blizzard has handed out pre-order bonuses. Recently, the company revealed that players can get a Level 70 character in World of Warcraft if they pre-order the game's next expansion, The War Within. This allows them to enjoy the new content without having to level their characters from the ground up.

Although things might still change before the release of the next Call of Duty game, the idea of pre-order bonuses that are this outrageous is a huge possibility given the company's track record.

Not Excited

Despite the news, people are seemingly not interested in the next Call of Duty game. One user said that because it is being developed by Treyarch, it's possible that the game is incomplete when it arrives next year.

Another person shared that they're not getting their hopes up as the next Zombies Mode might just be a reskin of Cold War.

What do you think? Are you excited about the next Call of Duty game?
