If you haven't played Overwatch 2 lately, Roadhog received some massive changes to his kit. He now has a new ability to work with, his scrap gun only has one firing mode, and his "Take a Breather" has been moved to right-click. With these adjustments, how can you get the most out of Roadhog after his recent rework?

Learn to Shoot at Mid-Range

As mentioned earlier, Roadhog's Scrap Gun has been changed. Instead of having two different firing modes, his main weapon now only has one - a mid-range volley that deals massive damage, provided that the several smaller projectiles have all landed on the enemy.

Pulling enemies with Roadhog's hook and blasting them using the Scrap Gun is no longer as effective as before. It seems that the damage of this weapon is not good when fired at close range. For this reason, you will have to fight enemies at mid-range for best results.

To improve accuracy, do not aim for the head, but rather, go for body shots. This is because of the nature of the shot, where the smaller projectiles in the middle deal the most amount of damage.

Remember, the Scrap Gun now only has one firing mode, so if you've trained yourself to press right-click a lot back then, you may have to focus on relearning how to shoot with Roadhog.

When to Use 'Take a Breather'

Roadhog is an incredibly tough tank hero in Overwatch 2 thanks in large part to his ability called "Take a Breather." When used, Roadhog heals a portion of his health by breathing from a special device. During this time, he receives less damage until the animation is finished.

As part of his rework, Roadhog's "Take a Breather" ability has been moved to right-click instead of pressing the "E" key on the keyboard. Because of this, you have to put in the time and effort to get used to the adjustment. That said, only press right-click when you need some healing.

Another major change is that you have to hold the right mouse button if you want to empty the breathing device for maximum healing. There is also a new resource meter that tells you how much the device has left before it needs to recharge.

For the most part, only use this ability in short bursts, especially when you're currently dealing with a foe. The idea is to survive long enough to shoot the enemy for the kill. The only time it is safe to empty the breathing device to heal is when there are no enemies in sight.

Enter the Pig Pen

Overwatch 2's popular tank hero has a new tool at his disposal, the Pig Pen. When used, Roaghog shoots a trap on the ground that damages and slows enemies down in a small area. This is Blizzard's solution to the problem that Roadhog couldn't keep enemies at bay in the past.

The Pig Pen is best used during team fights when members of the opposing team are relatively close to each other. You can throw the trap to prevent enemies from running away as well.

So, have you played Roadhog in Overwatch 2 after his rework? If so, how's your experience thus far?

Overwatch 2 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
