Looking for a new gaming monitor? Have a ton of money to spare? Then perhaps Samsung's Galaxy Odyssey Ark is right up your alley.
The new behemoth of a gaming display, priced at an insane $3500, is now available for pre-order. ZDNet reports that Odyssey Ark comes from the original one teased at CES. And it is billed as a monitor that could replace multi-display setups all on its own, with its insane 55-inch size. This gaming monitor is darn near as big as a freaking 4K TV, and it is in 4K too.
One of its biggest features is its ability to render several "virtual monitors," which are intended to help with productivity tasks. Consider that a lot of folks using productivity software will almost always require multi-monitor setups. But with the Samsung Galaxy Odyssey Ark, they no longer have to deal with bezels. It's just one huge panel.
Here are the specs to whet your appetite, so you can judge for yourself whether this thing is actually worth your next month's rent:
- 55-inch
- 1000R curvature
- 16:9 aspect ratio
- Quantum Mini LED with local dimming backlights
- 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio
- HDR 2000 support
- 4K resolution (3840 x 2160)
- 1ms response time
- 165 Hz refresh rate
- FreeSync Premium Pro support
- Four HDMI 2.1 ports
Aside from that, the Samsung Galaxy Odyssey Ark also comes with what the company calls "Cockpit Mode." Simply put, you can position the monitor vertically on its height-adjustable stand for "more immersion" if the game calls for it - say, a first-person dogfighting/starship piloting game like Star Wars: Squadrons.
And to cap things off, the Galaxy Odyssey Ark gaming monitor also comes with built-in "Sound Dome technology" which uses four mid-range quality speakers located at each corner. This is designed to mimic the sensation of sound coming from all directions, and is helped by Samsung's AI Sound Booster and Dolby Atmos. The sound system's bass is helped along by two central subwoofers.
Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy Odyssey Ark gaming monitor are already open on the company's website. Anyone who pre-purchases the crazy high-end gaming monitor will have an exclusive $100 discount, as well as access to "even more exclusive offers" intended to soup up buyers' gaming setups.

What Kind Of Setup Could Use This?
For its steep price tag, the 55-inch Samsung Galaxy Odyssey Ark is really reserved for the power users. Those are the kinds of people that require uncompromising quality and performance in both their productivity and gaming workloads. So imagine trying to edit a video and rendering it, all while you're streaming GTA Online in the foreground - this monitor is big enough for that.
The four HDMI 2.1 ports also ensures that this display fully supports HDR and native 4K rendering at high refresh rates. So if your PC is powerful enough to run this or you got a next-gen console like a PS5 or Xbox Series X, the Galaxy Odyssey Ark gaming monitor could be a good buy. Only, of course, if you have money to burn.
