Finally, there's a definitive date for the upcoming Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta. But PlayStation owners get to have first crack at it.
As reported by PushSquare, players on PS5 and PS4 will be the first ones to access the beta starting September 18th of this year. If you're worried that you might be needing a PS Plus subscription to play online, don't worry: it has been confirmed that you don't need to have one. Aside from this, there will also be an early access beta from September 16-17.
Nevertheless, the Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta will now move on to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC after the initial PS5 and PS4 run. The first run (Early Access) is from September 22-23, and is intended to test the game's crossplay functionality exclusively for the Xbox and PC platforms first. Afterwards, everybody else will get to try the game out early from September 24-26, as per a blog post on the official Call Of Duty website.
Ahead of the open beta, the developers have released a quick flythrough of the new Marina Bay Grand Prix map - which will be the first map players get to experience in the upcoming MW2 beta. It is a 6v6 map intended to simulate a shootout happening at an F1 track. Here is the video uploaded on the official Call Of Duty YouTube channel:
As you can see there, the map looks pretty expansive and detailed, full of potential hazards and excellently-placed environmental elements to try to get the upper hand against enemies. It also looks like the map will have an active race in the background going on to further immerse players in it. Anything else about the map should be revealed once the beta rolls out to those who have already secured access to it.
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 serves as a sequel to the rebooted Modern Warfare series, which was released back in 2019. Developers promise to reveal more new details about the game at the Call Of Duty Next event, so be sure to stay tuned to official channels for that one.
Call Of Duty MW2 is scheduled to release on October 28th for last-gen and current-gen consoles, as well as PC.

How To Gain Access To The Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta
For those who might still be unsure how to get into the MW2 open beta, the simplest solution is to preorder the game on the platform you want to play it on. That's it. Preordering will get you the Early Access code, meaning you get to try the game out before anybody else does on your platform of choice.
Aside from this, there was also another way to get in: winning a code by watching the COD League Championship Weekend stream. However, the stream has already concluded by the time of this writing (it happened on August 7th), and anybody who watched it and linked their Activision account to YouTube had the chance to win a code.
So go ahead and preorder the game if you'd like to see and experience it firsthand!
