Resogun Improvements Coming, Developer Promises to Make the PS4 Game 'So Much Better'

In the modern gaming landscape we're pretty used to games getting patched and updated after their releases as the developers try to tweak and improve their product, even when it's already in consumers' hands.

We're also pretty used to developers making big claims about their future plans--some live up to the hype, and others don't. PS4 downloadable title Resogun's developers today made one such big proclamation, and if they're going to follow through we should expect a much-improved version of the game coming in the future.

Developer Housemarque tweeted, "Imagine Resogun, right? Now imagine it so much better that you almost forget how good the original was. That. Is. Coming."

Bold words! It really makes me curious what types of additions they could patch into the game that would make such a huge improvement, rather than just the usual incremental updates.

But here they are nonetheless--they've promised something pretty big in their plans, so I'm inclined to believe that's their intent until they show us if they are overselling it.

I feel as if just new levels, maybe a new difficulty and new ships, for example, wouldn't be additions that would be hyped as additions significant enough to "make us almost forget how good the original game was". Those could be added in any DLC or update, as we've seen dozens of times in other games.

To me, this sounds like something more fundamental to the experience. Perhaps they'll add new gameplay mechanics, or new modes that entirely change how the game is played. I can't see them straying as far as, say, open maps or a top-down mode (think Geometry Wars), but I'm trying to think outside the box since they've made the changes sound so major! I'm excited to see what their actual plans are--so long as they aren't misleading us.
