Xbox may be the only one left out of the Big Three exhibitioners at Gamescom, but they're not exactly going to pull out all the stops according to this new report.
As per WCCFTech, it is said that Team Green is only going to provide "small updates" on current games, with no big announcements from upcoming titles prepared. This came after Microsoft confirmed that they will be on the floor in Germany, after speculation that they might also skip it the way Sony and Nintendo did.
For now, it isn't clear what exactly they want to do - and which games they want to talk about. In the original WCCFTech report, there's indication that they're going to talk about the titles that are either already out or have already been announced. Maybe that's because they've already showcased their big guns during their Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, which only concluded about a month ago.
A few of the games we can expect to get updates on are the usual suspects - first-party games. There's Starfield from Bethesda and the vampire-killing shooter Redfall from Arkane Studios. There's also new potential news on Forza Motorsport from Turn10, and Ninja Theory's Hellblade: Senua's Saga, to name a few.
Third-party titles could also make an appearance at Xbox's Gamescom presentation. Either way, Xbox plans to focus on the "next 12 months" of their first and third-party lineup, which is similar to what they showed during their Bethesda showcase last time around, writes Polygon.
Gamescom is the technically the gaming industry's biggest convention in terms of scale - even bigger than E3 itself. This year's iteration might be missing a few of the true industry giants, but it's still not out of exhibitioners to watch out for. Some may even consider the event to be far more important than E3 itself. Even if PlayStation and Nintendo won't be there, it's not a second-rate event by any means.

More News On Gamescom 2022
As of this writing, over 500 companies have been confirmed to set up shop at Gamescom 2022, reports Video Games Chronicle. The event, which is scheduled to take place from August 24-28 is going to be a hybrid one (in-person and livestream simultaneously) as it is being held in Cologne, Germany.
A few other big industry names that will be there include Take-Two subsidiary 2K Games, SEGA Europe, THQ Nordic, Warner Bros. Games, Bandai Namco, and Ubisoft to name a few. As for what these companies could show onstage, there are several expectations.
Ubisoft, for instance, is expected to reveal more information about their multiplayer open-world pirate game Skull And Bones, reports Eurogamer. It's worth noting that the title has been in the headlines lately and just received a new cinematic and gameplay trailer, roughly five years after its initial announcement way back in E3 2017.
Of course, there are other studios in the lineup - but talking about them all here will be too time-consuming. As such, it would be best to just tune in.
