God Of War Ragnarok is still pretty much nowhere in sight, which could be bad as numerous rumors of a delay just popped up once more. Game director Cory Barlog recently went onto Twitter to tease the game being played on PS5, though, while also sharing his thoughts on the delay rumors.
Barlog posted an image of the PS5's DualSense controller dated June 16th, wherein he says he can't play his Steam Deck yet because he's playing "this other thing":
Steam Deck arrived…but probably won’t get to play it for a while because I’m currently playing this other thing… pic.twitter.com/OD3JcBE4wk

But the real meat of the conversation is the tweet that came before. He posted a tweet of a Kratos GIF dated June 14th, which was replied to by series creator David Jaffe saying that the game's 2022 release date is now "no longer locked in."
DualShock reports that Barlog's series of recent tweets is actually his first after a three-month-long hiatus on the platform. The Twitter thread garnered a lot of attention from fans as a result, with Barlog tweeting a smirking GIF of Ryan Reynolds as a reply to Jaffe's claim:

For those who were unaware, David Jaffe said that a certain "Sony insider pal" said that God Of War Ragnarok's release date is not TBD, saying the game may or may not release this year and that the likelihood is 50-50. However, ComicBook reports that the sequel to 2018's God Of War is highly likely to still launch this year despite numerous rumors to the contrary.
They're citing Barlog's direct (or rather indirect) replies as indications that, despite all the rumors of a delay, God Of War Ragnarok is still going to ship on time. Perhaps it's just the coy nature of his replies that got people's hopes up - not to mention that he's literally the creative director and he's not sounding the alarm himself.

God Of War Ragnarok Delay Rumors All Over The Place
Perhaps it's just gamers being very, very impatient, or perhaps it is true. Either way, numerous rumors that the God Of War sequel is delayed next year have been resurfacing all over again. And it's not just random people claiming that the delay is real - or not.
GamesRadar reports that there are numerous "reliable" instances that could point to the game being delayed. One, they mentioned how a Twitter account said that Ragnarok's placeholder release date on PSN changed from September 30th to December 31st, 2022. This isn't a major delay by all means, but another report from GameReactor Europe says the game is going to move to 2023 entirely - but that one was overshadowed once more.
Bloomberg's Jason Schreier then said this on the ResetEra forums about the big-budget Sony first-party title:
It's hard to definitely prove a negative but someone who would know firsthand just told me they haven't heard anything about a slip to 2023, as did someone else who might know secondhand.
So which one is it? Is God Of War Ragnarok delayed or not delayed? Only time will tell for now.
