Developed and published by Unknown Worlds Entertainment, Subnautica was released in January 2018. As mentioned, the game is survival action-adventure game set in an open world. This means you, as the player, are free to roam around the world the game is set in.

You take on the role of Ryley Robinson, the lone survivor of a deep space vessel known as the Aurora and is currently stranded on an ocean planet known as 4546B. As you may have already figured out, your goal is to survive.

"After crash landing in your Life Pod, the clock is ticking to find water, food, and to develop the equipment you need to explore," says the Steam page of Subnautica. Among the equipment you will need to craft are diving gear, submersibles, and even habitat modules.

You will also need to learn to manage your oxygen supply as you explore deeper into the alien world, including its cave systems, reefs, and kelp forests.

As you are underwater, you will encounter a variety of marine life. However, take note that not all of them will be helpful for you, especially at night.

Due to the success of Subnautica, a sequel was released just last year. Called Subnautica: Below Zero, the story of the sequel is set two years after the events of the first game.

This time around, you will take on the role of a scientist named Robin Ayou. The character takes matters into her own hands and heads to 4546B in order to find out what led to the death of her sister.
