Amidst rumors that it has been canceled, the Prince Of Persia remake from Ubisoft has been confirmed as delayed indefinitely by Ubisoft.
In a report by GamesRadar, it was revealed that some game retailers were de-listing preorders for the game. This made people think that the remake has been canceled after being revealed in 2020. But IGN managed to confirm with Ubi that the game still is in development, even if it will not be shipping within fiscal year (FY) 2023.
The main reason for the delay, according to Ubi, was that the game's development will now be handled by a different studio. Here's what they had to say about the delayed Prince Of Persia remake:

For those who can't see the Twitter image for some reason, the statement is as follows:
"The development of Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal. We're proud of the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learnings as the new team will continue the work to deliver a great remake."
Ubi further adds:
"As a consequence, we are no longer targeting an FY2023 release anymore and the game has been delisted. If players wish to cancel their preorder, they are invited to contact their retailer. They will be updated on the project as the development is moving along."
While the delay itself might sound a bit jarring for fans, this isn't actually the first time that the upcoming Prince Of Persia Sands Of Time remake was delayed. According to IGN, the game was originally scheduled to launch last year but had to be pushed back to FY2023. The original release date was January 21st, 2021, which was changed to March 18th, 2021.
Obviously, those two dates have already come and gone - with the COVID-19 pandemic being blamed for the initial delay.

What Else Is Known About The Prince Of Persia Remake?
The remake, which will be of the original Sands Of Time game that first released back in 2003, was announced as a modern reimagining for newer consoles. It is not an HD remaster per se, considering how that was already done for the game's PS3 version, a report by IGN says that it is being developed to stay as faithful as possible to the original.
In the report, it was also revealed that the remake is being built using Ubi's upgraded in-house Anvil engine: the same engine used in Assassin's Creed Origins. This could mean that the game will feature immensely beautiful visuals, considering just how amazing Origins looked back when it launched in 2017. Aside from that, the remake's cutscenes will now also feature motion capture technology - something that was in its infancy in 2003.
Original actor Yuri Lowenthal returns as the voice of the prince, but a new actress will be playing Princess Farah - it won't be Joanna Wasick this time. Aside from that, the game also promises a "more responsive" parkour and combat system, as well as better camera angles - which were at times problematic during platforming sections in the original game.
