As of writing, there are many consumers who are still unable to have their beloved consoles because of the chip shortages and other issues affecting Sony's production performance.
But, Sony is expected to change this scenario since it promised to ramp up its console production. According to The Wired's latest report, Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment's CEO, said that they will try to produce around 18 million PS5 consoles before 2022 ends.

The latest goal of Jim Ryan is around 11% higher compared to the production number that Sony achieved back in 2021, which is only 11.5 million.

Ryan announced their new estimated console production ramp up despite Chinese officials' new COVID-19 health restrictions. He claimed that their manufacturing facilities are still improving.
Aside from this, Sony announced that it will have another State of Play event on Thursday, June 2. There's a high chance that the game developer will share further details about its ramp up efforts once the conference takes place.
