A new Minecraft map, made in collaboration with NVIDIA, has been released to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee (aka her 70th year on the English throne).
The map features ray tracing and needs to be played with RTX on to be better appreciated. According to Eurogamer, artist Ushio Tokura worked with two other designers to create the map after a total of 650 hours of work spread out in two weeks. It could probably be also one of the biggest Minecraft maps to date, as the entire map is said to cover a virtual area of around 830,000 square feet.
You can download the newly released Minecraft map with ray tracing on PlanetMinecraft right now, if you want to check it out. There, you can see more screenshots of the map, which features what looks to be full-scale recreations of the iconic Pall Mall and Buckingham Palace.
But the new map isn't everything that NVIDIA commissioned to help celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee. That's because there's also going to be a street party within the map, basically allowing people from all around the world to visit the legendary British landmarks in celebration of the jubilee.
As per the map's PlanetMinecraft page, these festivities will start at the Pall Mall where digital crowds are expected to gather next to the Royal Guards - all wearing special uniforms for the celebration. Then, players will have the chance to see just how amazing the map looks with ray tracing by visiting the Victoria Memorial, which is lit up using ray-traced global illumination tech.
Afterwards, the party proper begins with fireworks, balloons, a live street band, and even activities like "Pin The Tail On The Corgi" on the offer.
But before you download this new map, however, you need to make sure that your graphics card is capable of ray tracing. That means anything from NVIDIA's RTX 2000 or RTX 3000 series of GPUs, and perhaps even AMD's most recent releases from the past few years.
Furthermore, this is also only available on PC - for obvious reasons.

Minecraft RTX: The Best Implementation Of 'RTX On?'
Ever since real-time ray tracing debuted with NVIDIA's RTX 2000 series of GPUS back in 2018, ray tracing as a whole hasn't seen a lot of iterations in major games. At times, some might even argue that the implementation of tech in certain games is bad and doesn't give any substantial visual upgrade. But that's not really the case with Minecraft.
In tech YouTuber Linus Sebastian's first look at the Minecraft RTX update, the technology brought forth an insane graphical upgrade that made even the most bland-looking Minecraft maps feel alive - despite their trademark blockiness.
But owing to the power of high-end PC hardware, Minecraft RTX can look even more realistic with the settings turned to beyond maximum. Here is a video from the YouTube channel DMIIITRIEV, which showcases just what ray tracing can do to the game with all RT settings pushed beyond its limits:
