The Best Star Wars Games To Play Before Seeing The Obi-Wan Kenobi TV Series

Here Are The Best Star Wars Games To Play Before Watching The Kenobi TV Series

Star Wars fans are in for a treat come May 27th, as the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series on Disney+ is coming. But when it comes to the gamers of that very passionate bunch, maybe some would like to play a few good video games before watching - just so they're caught up on what's supposed to happen in the show.

Well, worry no more if you're one of them. If you're looking for the best Star Wars games to play before watching the Kenobi TV series, you're in the right place.

Vader Immortal VR

Despite the upcoming Disney+ show being centered on Obi-Wan, he will likely share a good amount of screen time with his former Padawan and now Dark Lord of the Sith: Darth Vader (aka badly burnt Anakin Skywalker).

Hayden Christensen returns to reprise his role and based on his early interviews about the series, he describes Vader at this point as "vengeful" and even more powerful than the last time he was seen in Revenge of the Sith. Well, that kind of Vader is who you will see in the game Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series.

Vader Immortal, unlike a lot of other Star Wars games, is actually part of the extended series canon, writes ScreenRant. It will take you on a more mystical journey where Vader himself teaches you the ways of the Force, and all the events are set after his fateful duel with Obi-Wan on Mustafar. There will also be key locations like Vader's Mustafar castle, as well as other lesser-known events that are fleshed out.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Jedi Fallen Order is considered as one of the best Star Wars games of all time, and for good reason. So many people basically say that this game is the result of Star Wars and Dark Souls had a baby - and it's one whose story, while technically standalone, would fit very well within that of the Kenobi series.

It follows the story of the Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis, who managed to survive Order 66 by hiding out on his own. Perhaps its biggest connetion to the Disney+ show is its imperial Inquisitors - Jedi hunters who report directly to Vader himself.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

One can safely assume that the story of the Kenobi series will be a very, very serious and dark one. It does, after all, happen 10 years after Obi-Wan and Anakin's fight on Mustafar. So both the physical and emotional wounds of the two characters are still fresh, so to speak.

If that seriousness is too much for you, then maybe Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga could help you de-stress a bit. In our review, we praised it for the sheer amount of pure, unadulterated fun it gives; something that so many new games these days fail to deliver. It offers a lighthearted spin on even the series' darkest moments, which could be of great assistance if you think you'll find yourself sobbing while watching the Disney+ show.

Star Wars Battlefront II

While the story of this game doesn't explicitly feature Obi-Wan or Anakin, it does happen right within the events of the Return of the Jedi. You play not as a Jedi, Sith, or basically any other Star Wars VIP - but rather as an Imperial soldier named Iden Versio.

You will get to see several of the major events here - some shown, some only mentioned like Emperor Palpatine's "death" (wink wink) - but all of them still link back to the early days of the Empire which are the ones that will be featured in the Kenobi series.
