In a rather surprising move, EA has revealed that it has a so-called unannounced remake and a brand-new IP, both of which are scheduled to launch by early 2023 - alongside other new games coming out.
The reveal was made in a PDF presentation focusing on Electronic Arts' Q4 results for the financial year 2022. In it, the gaming industry giant noted that they have newly planned launches for F1 22 in Q1, new FIFA and Madden games in Q2, and Need for Speed and NHL series in Q3 2022.
But as per Q4 (which runs from January-March 2023, here is their list: a PGA Tour game, an unannounced partner and sports title, a "major IP," and the aforementioned remake.
According to GamesRadar, the remake actually doesn't refer to the one thing EA is known to be remaking: Dead Space. So it is another old game from the annals of Electronic Arts that's getting a modern reimagining, although there's absolutely no indication of what it could be.
As for the major IP, IGN posits that it could be either the next Dragon Age or Mass Effect game, both of which have already been announced and are still in development. These two games still haven't had a more public reveal ever since they were teased during the past few years: Dragon Age 4 during the 2020 Game Awards, and the next Mass Effect during N7 Day 2021.
For now, whatever this major IP and unannounced remake is, everyone will have to play the waiting game before they are revealed. EA currently has its hands full with the current generation, considering there's still the Dead Space remake, Dragon Age 4, and Mass Effect 4 filling up the pipeline. Aside from that, there's also still the upcoming Jedi Fallen Order 2.
Furthermore, the other games in that Q4 list (partner title and sports game) are also toss-ups at this point. We're basically in the dark here, waiting for the light to shine.

Old Games That EA Should Remake Or Remaster
On the subject of the unannounced remake, we have a few great old games from the bowels of Electronic Arts' catalog that might deserve a modern revisit.
-
Mirror's Edge: Made by well-known Battlefield developer DICE, this first-person parkour game got rave reviews when it launched back in 2008. But despite that, the game's sales fell short of EA's expectations. DICE still managed to release a reboot called Mirror's Edge Catalyst, though it wasn't as well-received as its predecessor, according to GameRant.
-
Medal Of Honor: This series was basically Electronic Arts' direct answer to Call Of Duty, and the first game on its own was one of the best of its time. But after the release of Warfighter in 2012, there was barely anything about the franchise anymore, writes SportsKeeda.
-
Skate: The original Skate offered a very different style of gameplay to the genre-leading Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, and it succeeded in doing so. It was a pretty popular game for its time, popular enough that sequels Skate 2 and Skate 3 were pumped out. But the franchise has been dead since 2010, and considering how there's no major skateboarding titles anymore, this is ripe for an official remake.
