'Breath Of The Wild' Is THE BEST 'Legend Of Zelda' Game, Says Stone Cold Steve Austin

'Breath Of The Wild' Has A Big Fan In Wrestling Legend Stone Cold Steve Austin

When Breath of the Wild was released back in 2017, it was the best game ever released that year. The newest Legend of Zelda game was so well-reviewed that its scores almost always came back perfect. And apparently, one of its biggest fans is none other than WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin, as reported by GameSpot.

This was revealed in some sort of a rapid-fire interview video shared on Twitter by the WWE Network, where Austin interviewed fellow wrestling star Cody Rhodes. The Rattlesnake started things off by asking Rhodes what the best Legend of Zelda game is, to which the latter answered Ocarina of Time is. But Austin was quick to reply that the best game in the long-running franchise, in fact, is Breath of the Wild.

See the interview here, which was a recent episode of the Broken Skull Sessions:

Rhodes is seen as calling Austin's proclamation "a bold choice," and perhaps he should be thankful that he wasn't on the receiving end of a Stunner. Either way, you're free to disagree with Stone Cold on this one - but maybe you shouldn't tell him that right to his face.

At the end of the day, both Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild are now two of the most iconic titles in the Legend of Zelda franchise. The two games remain popular to this day, and fans are still frothing at the mouth for a Breath of the Wild sequel (which Nintendo still hasn't officially announced), and Ocarina of Time has been the subject of two major fan-made remakes using modern game engines.

To this day, Breath of the Wild remains an extremely popular game - which perhaps corroborates Stone Cold's claim of it being the best. So far, the game has already sold an insane 25 million copies in its lifetime, according to Nintendo Life. If it was able to sell that much, then maybe it is time that you tried it out.

Why Was Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild So Good?

As previously mentioned, the game earned accolades almost everywhere it went five years ago - perfect or near-perfect scores all over, and people still can't stop talking about it until this day. But what exactly made Breath of the Wild so darn good?

People have differing opinions on the matter. But if we're going with how game publications saw it, the game was amazing for its open-ended open-world design. According to Polygon, Breath of the Wild's rendition of Hyrule rewards players' curiosity as it doesn't feature endless map icons. Just pick a direction, go there, and see what wonders you might find.

"Breath of the Wild bucks many of the trends from recently released Zelda games, but also subverts all the open-world hallmarks that came before it. Its world is so reactive and expansive that it set a new standard for players. And that new standard is changing how games are made," says Polygon's Chelsea Stark.

In another article, Looper considers the latest Zelda title the best open-world game ever. They once again praised the game's open-world design for how it breaks off from traditional games in the genre - the ones so chock full of quest markers, waypoints, and the like that can take you out of your immersion and make everything feel like a chore.

Stone Cold Steve Austin is among these folks, so let that sink in with regards to the popularity of Breath of the Wild as a whole.
