Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games just put up a new job announcement, looking for "world-class" engineers to work on their unannounced multiplayer game.

The announcement was posted on the famous developer's website but was shared on Twitter by user Shaun McCabe.

It was detailed in the posting that Insomniac is looking for a Senior Gameplay Programming Manager to join their team.
The aforementioned unannounced multiplayer game was first hinted by industry leaker Nick "Shpeshal_Nick" Baker, who claimed that the game is based on a Marvel IP and will be exclusive to the PS5, reports PlayStationLifestyle. Rumors of the new project from Insomniac Games' first popped up in September 2021, and it was reportedly a separate one from the studio's current projects.
If you remember, Insomniac announced that the sequel to their critically acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4 and a Wolverine game is in development as of this moment. Both are going to be exclusive to the new Sony console, which is why the rumored Marvel multiplayer game being a PS5 exclusive makes sense.
Early Job Postings
Insomniac Games first published the job openings back in June of last year. These openings were for creative director, systems designer, and story lead. The latter could be the most exciting, considering that it's billed as a multiplayer game. Its job description asks for developing so-called "episodic and non-linear storylines" and requires the applicants to have experience in writing "multiplayer narratives.

As for the creative director post, the studio is looking for someone who has experience in handling "brand extensions," including films, graphic novels, books, DLC, and even mobile games. The applicant's main job is apparently to "ensure consistency" across the project.
The systems designer is an obvious technical job whose responsibilities include helping build the game's combat, progression, navigation, and economy, with a focus on melee, as well as enemy and boss design.
What Is Known About Insomniac Games' Multiplayer PS5 Exclusive?
Nothing is concrete about the new Insomniac Games project as of yet. All the rumors about the game is based on a Marvel IP are just rumors. But it is not impossible given how the studio has earned a reputation as a premier Marvel superhero game maker.

But while exact details about the game are scarce, one can infer from the job postings that it is still in the very early development stage, writes ComicBook.net. That is, no prototype gameplay could leak out early, and everything else that you might see at this point is most probably fake.
Furthermore, the fact that Insomniac Games is working on it alongside Wolverine and Spider-Man 2 means that the release date is far off. There's a good chance that we might not see at least a trailer for the game until beyond 2023 because that's the year when the studio plans to release Spider-Man 2. Wolverine, on the other hand, still has no definitive release date.
It's safe to say that the team at the beloved PlayStation developer will have their hands full for the next few years.
