'Assassin's Creed' Origins Headlines Next Roster Of Xbox Game Pass Additions

Assassin's Creed Origins is headlining the following lineup of games to be added to Xbox Game Pass soon, though it won't be this April.

According to Windows Central, the Ancient Egypt stab-a-thon is scheduled to come to Microsoft's subscription service within two months. That's because both Microsoft and Ubisoft are still working out a deal as of this moment. But when it does come, it will be a milestone for the long-running video game franchise.

That's because Assassin's Creed Origins will be the first entry in the series to join Xbox Game Pass ever, writes IGN. No other Assassin's Creed title has had the distinction, and only a specific list of Ubisoft games have had the same. But aside from Origins, Game Pass subscribers are also scheduled to get For Honor: Marching Fire Edition, both of which are slated for the end of June.

Once it does get added to the service, Assassin's Creed Origins will be playable via cloud, console, and PC using the Ubisoft Connect app (via Xbox Wire).

This news of several Ubisoft games coming to Xbox Game Pass comes after the industry bigwig announced their very own monthly subscription platform, Ubisoft+. The release of Rainbow Six: Extraction on Microsoft's service as a Day One release was the start of this partnership, as reported by Inverse.

It is, however, a bit weird that Ubi would start with Origins instead of their newest game: Valhalla. Considering Valhalla has proven to be the second-best franchise bestseller after 2012's Assassin's Creed 3. But maybe this is due to how many people consider the Ancient Egyptian open-world adventure as a good game.

Nevertheless, Assassin's Creed Origins' addition to Game Pass could signal the start of more games from the stabby franchise coming to the service for the foreseeable future.

Of course, Origins and For Honor aren't the only games coming to Game Pass within the next few weeks. The lineup for the rest of April has these games either already available or are coming soon:

There are also several games being removed from the service, which Microsoft reminds players to try out before they're gone.
