This Xbox Series X/S Controller Mod Lets You Play Using Only One Hand

YouTuber Creates A One-Handed Xbox Series X/Series S Controller Using A 3D Printer

A YouTuber's mod for the Xbox Series X and Series S' controller is gaining notoriety recently for how clever it is, and how easy it is for anyone to make.

WindowsCentral reports that YouTuber Akaki Kuumeri was able to create a mod for the Series X/S' controller that allows anyone to play with one hand. He posted a video of the mod, which is available in both left and right-handed configurations, working perfectly on his channel:

As you can see in the video, the design of the mod is pretty ingenious. Whether you're right-handed or left-handed, the mod allows the usage of either left or right sticks to move the camera/character or aim by putting the contraption on top of your knee or any other surface.

Aside from that, all four buttons can be reached from one side by virtue of "extensions" that move and press the actual buttons. And he also made the buttons easy to find by giving them their corresponding colors: green for A, blue for X, red for B, and yellow for Y. Not to mention, all the other buttons like the Xbox logo button are also colored the right way.

But if you want to use the mod on another controller, say, an Xbox One, this specific mod won't fit. That's because the contraption is tailor-made for the Series X and Series S controllers' dimensions, which are a little smaller than that of the Xbox One.

However, the blueprints can likely be scaled down to fit an Xbox One controller by a skilled 3D printer, as Kuumeri has already made them available for free on the website Printables.

Anyone can download the blueprints from there, and the entire project can be completed using only "a few dollars' worth of plastic." But he's not just created the mod for Xbox controllers, as he's also made one for the PS5's DualSense and the PS4's DualShock 4.

An Excellent, Affordable Choice For Disabled Gamers

As you should know, not all gamers are made the same. There are millions upon millions of disabled gamers in the world all over, which can be helped by this tiny, cheap controller mod project. It can even be cheaper to get compared to official peripherals from Microsoft, namely their proprietary Xbox Adaptive Controller:

But despite being far cheaper to get than the Adaptive Controller (in practicality aspects), this Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S controller mod still requires that you have access to a 3D printer. The cheapest ones can run you around $100 to as much as $500, but the more robust, enthusiast-level models can cost as much as $4,000 (via Fusion3Design).

Granted, you don't actually need to own a 3D printer for this mod. All you need is to contact somebody who owns one, give them some filament (in this case, plastic), and pay for the actual printing service. A small project like this is not going to cost much as you'll only pay for the printing process and the plastic filament.
