In a partnership with Sega, video game developers Gamefam Studios has developed a Sonic the Hedgehog game using Roblox. According to a press release, this is the first time that a major video game IP has officially featured on Roblox.
Sonic Speed Simulator is a Roblox Game But With Sonic the Hedgehog
The game is called Sonic Speed Simulator, where you can play as Sonic and other Sonic the Hedgehog characters, or even as your own Roblox avatar, in this running game, according to a report by Polygon. As you run across various unique worlds or race against your friends, your level increases along with your character's speed.
Your character's stats increase by taking as many steps in the game as possible and by collecting special items such as the Chaos Orb. There are four different worlds in the game, one including a checkered area called Green Hill Zone. A fifth world with additional bosses will also be featured in a later update.
You can also earn rewards such as pets, Sonic-themed items, and special Sonic character skins. Gamefam is also planning to release weekly updates and an exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog skin once the game hits 10, 000 likes from Roblox players.

Sonic's Roblox Game is Sega-Approved
According to Gamefam CEO Joe Ferencz, Sega closely worked with them in pushing the production value of Sonic Speed Simulator so that "it looked and felt like a Sonic game." In an article published in the Game Informer, Ferencz said, "We're proud that SEGA entrusted our talented team of creators to bring Sonic to the metaverse and deliver the highest velocity, and probably best-looking, game in Roblox history!"
Gamefam has also collaborated with other major companies such as Sony, Mattel, and Ubisoft. Right now, the Sonic Speed Simulator is currently in beta phase, open only to a limited number of people. If you wish to try out the game, you can go to the Roblox website for the game.
Will Sonic Fans Love Sonic Speed Simulator?
Ferencz recognizes the doubts Sonic fans might have with the game being developed on Roblox instead of its own game engine. But Ferencz hopes Sonic fans will give it a chance. "I think people have a lot of notions about what Roblox is, and what Roblox is and isn't," he said "If people are Sonic fans, we want them to come in and try this game. Even if they're never tried Roblox."

It runs on Android, iOS, Mac, Windows PC, and Xbox One. Gamefam is a popular video game developer that uses Roblox as a platform. Some of their current games include Deathrun, an obstacle game, and Polybattle, a first-person shooter.
Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most beloved video game characters by Sega. For more than 30 years, the Blue Blur has appeared in more than 20 games, countless comic books, animated series, and two live-action films. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is currently playing in theatres.
