Finally, after eight weeks of fiery action, a champion has finally been crowned. Of 10 teams competing in the 2022 LEC Spring playoffs, only six stood the chance of becoming the best League of Legends players. On Sunday, G2 took home to championship trophy after an intense match with Rogue.

Winning 9-0 in the lower bracket was just the beginning for this ruthless all-star team. Despite Rogue's noble efforts, G2 still overcame them with their flawless performance.

Caps' Ahri Brought the Endgame in Game One

Mid-Laner caPs were quick to give his team the head start, using Ahri to take down the massive enemies. According to a report by Dot Esports, the nine-tailed fox's popularity rose this season due to a major rework of her abilities in Patch 12.3. The tanks of Rogue were defenseless against Ahri's full combos.

In just 20 minutes, caPs hit a power spike and wiped down the area with a variety of summoner spells, thanks to an expert selection of items such as Everfrost, Rabadon's Deathcap, and Mejai's Soulstealer.

Rogue's Malrang led his team to fight for the Mountain Drake, but lost to cAps strong burst damages, which earned him an 8/0/5 KDA in the first game.

Rogue's Resistance Rendered Useless by G2's Lineup

Ahri was offset for the second round, and fans were treated to a favorite mid-lane matchup: Corki vs. Azir. Rogue tried to plant a Baron, which would have worked to their advantage. But due to their lack of initiation, G2 dominated the bottom lane.

G2 Support Targamas was a key player in this round, using Renata Glasc in keeping his team members alive. Renata used Berserk which forced enemies to fight one another.

In game three, cAps used Ahri once again. Rogue shifted focus toward roaming, instead of Malrang being in the bottom lane. This worked to their advantage and finally rose against G2 in the bloodiest fight of the game.

But as cAps' Ahri was activated again, Rogue's plan fell apart. cAps' Ahri kept the rest of Rogue busy, as Tarfamas' Pyke and BrokenBlade's Ornn dominated the map, which ultimately led to G2's victory.

G2 Set To Represent LEC in Mid-Season Invitationals in Busan

This playoff season saw how formidable G2's current lineup can be and worthy of representing Europe in the Mid-season invitationals. Despite being pushed to the lower bracket, they worked their way up with a record 12-0 finish. Their one loss in the season did not hinder them from striving hard and improving their performance in the next matches. cAps himself showed a stellar performance, earning him the coveted Finals MVP title.

This win makes G2 eligible to compete as the sole representatives of the European leg to the 2022 "League of Legends" Mid-Season Invitational, according to a separate report by Dot Esports. It will be held on May 9 in Busan, South Korea, where they will fight teams from all regions. T1 of the LCK Spring Playoffs is the uncontested winner of the Mid-Season Invitationals, so G2 has been probably studying this team's plays. They will also join TCL's Instanbul Wildcats and LJL's DetonatioN FocusMe, being the only teams so far that have qualified for the Invitational.
