The tech firm is integrating its photogrammetric system into Epic Games' Unreal Engine.
"Today, we're happy to introduce RealityScan, a free 3D scanning app, developed in collaboration with Quixel, that turns smartphone photos into high-fidelity 3D models-in the most accessible way possible," captioned the software firm via its official YouTube post.

According to MySmartPrice's latest report, the new Reality Scan app of Epic Games can turn your photos into 3D scans. However, this application is only available as a restricted beta version on iOS smartphones.

But, the game developer may soon launch it to Android gadgets as well. Aside from this, only those with an Epic Games account can access the new photo app.
Because of its advanced features, many Epic Games fans shared their excitement. One of the game developer's consumers said they are looking forward to the Reality Scan app's Android launch.

How Reality Scan Works
Since Reality Scan uses the advanced RealityCapture software, it can easily take photo data from your device and turn them into virtual displays.
When you open a Reality Scan app account, around 20 images will be provided. You can check them by holding down the capture button.
This will allow you to move around the object. On the other hand, you can also use the app to scan game characters. But, this is only applicable to those games that offer a 3D view.
If the title is only in 2D, then the new Epic Games app will not work. Aside from iOS users, game developers will also greatly benefit from the new app.
This will allow them to save time when it comes to creating 3D renders of simple in-game content, such as chairs, cars, and other objects. With the new Reality Scan app, they can now scan real-life objects and turn them into 3D displays.
As of the moment, only a limited number of iOS users can use the app. But, the game developer said that it would soon expand to more iPhone owners.
