The "A Plague Tale" franchise' will be the latest video game to get a TV series, as per this recent announcement.

According to Eurogamer, the planned series will be adapted using a French cast. It also already has a director in Mathieu Turi, a former assistant director to Quentin Tarantino on "Inglorious Basterds." But while Turi has confirmed his involvement in the project, there's no news on a production schedule and casting for the series yet.

The series will be co-handled by developer Asobo Studio (who also developed "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020"); Focus Entertainment, who is currently working on the next-gen exclusive sequel "A Plague Tale: Requiem," and French media company Merlin Productions.
An article from the French language website Allocine was the first to break the news out. According to Merlin Productions' Fabrice Renault, their main focus is to "reflect" the skills of French talent, owing to how "A Plague Tale" itself is set in France and developed in the city of Bordeaux.
Aside from the director, nobody else is confirmed to be on board with the project. It is also not apparent whether the series will be live-action, but the likelihood of that is high considering how other games-turned TV series are live-action, like "The Last Of Us" and "Halo," to name a few. It is also not obvious whether the TV show will adapt the original game's story or tell its own story using the same characters and setting.
The "A Plague Tale" franchise started with 2019's "A Plague Tale: Innocence." The game was relatively well-received by critics, most of them praised it for its stealth gameplay approach (via IGN).

'A Plague Tale' Joins Other Game Industry Heavyweights In The TV Realm
As previously mentioned, "A Plague Tale" will be the latest video game to be adapted to TV alongside other bigwigs.
Perhaps one of the most highly anticipated ones is HBO's adaptation of Naughty Dog's "The Last Of Us," which is considered by many as one of the best games ever made with multiple Game Of The Year awards since being released in 2013. According to series star Pedro Pascal (who plays Joel in the show), the series "will live up to the games," indicating his high hopes for the project. It is due to premiere next year.

Another one is the upcoming "Halo" TV series scheduled to release on March 24th on Paramount+. According to Variety, this is likely among the most expensive TV shows ever made, with each episode reportedly costing $10 million to make. It has also been renewed for season 2 already.
Whether the "A Plague Tale" TV show will live up to the games, however, is still up in the air. All that remains now is waiting.
