"Elden Ring" is now out to massively raving critics and fans, with most of its review scores coming back near-perfect. The hype everywhere is just sky-high, and one company in Japan knew enough just to ride the wave.
Understanding that some of its employees might be too distracted to focus on their work due to the "Elden Ring" release, Japanese game studio Pocket Pair has instituted an "Elden Holiday"--a total of two days off to allow its employees to play the game, according to Mashable.
The company announced the impromptu vacation in a tweet:
ポケットペアは、全社員対象者にエルデン休暇を支給します!
— ポケットペア公式 - Craftopia/クラフトピア (@PocketpairJapan) February 22, 2022
エルデの王は金、月は出勤する必要はありません! pic.twitter.com/HforPa0TkN
The message in the tweet translates to:
"Pocket Pair will provide Elden Holiday to all Employees! The King Of Elde does not have to go to work on Friday and Monday!"
Another part of the message which some might found funny, is this:
"It is expected that you will not be able to concentrate on your work."
Such an announcement, for the unaware, is very uncharacteristic of a Japanese workplace. Japanese folks have earned a reputation for being absolute workaholics and fiercely loyal to the companies they work for, writes WorkJapan. But since Pocket Pair is a game studio, their decision does have a bit of basis given the circumstances.
This news is just one of many that prove just how big a release FromSoftware's new "Soulsborne" game is. As previously mentioned, "Elden Ring" has earned near-perfect scores from major reviewers even before its release, making it one of the biggest game launches in recent memory.
If you want to try it out for yourself, "Elden Ring" is now out on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Why A Few Days Off Could Be Great For 'Elden Ring' Players
Truth be told, Pocket Pair's decision to give its employees a four-day weekend is likely warranted because "Elden Ring" is such a massive time sink that it will require far more hours than normal to complete.
According to data from HowLongToBeat, the game's main story will take you around 40 and a half hours. Even a rushed playthrough will take 40 hours and 18 minutes. Considering how other big AAA open-world games' main campaigns only take around 30 hours, this is a massive amount of playtime that's testament to the amount and quality of content in the new FromSoftware RPG.
The numbers keep ramping up for those who want to experience everything that "Elden Ring" has to offer. Playing the main story plus a few extras would cost you almost 87 hours, with a rushed playthrough just a few minutes shorter at 86 hours and 47 minutes.
As for completionists, CNET estimates that you could need as much as 100 hours to beat everything fully. In other words, "Elden Ring" possesses such an insanely massive scale far beyond those of previous "Soulsborne" games that do require an extra day off of work if you want to experience it all.
