'Call Of Duty Mobile' Passes $1.5 BILLION In Microtransaction Revenue

'Call Of Duty Mobile' Has Now Earned Over $1.5 BILLION In Microtransactions

"Call of Duty Mobile" has now raked in an insane amount of money from its microtransactions over its lifetime.

In Call of Duty: Mobile's Season 5, players can now obtain the CR-56 AMAX, like the one seeing in this screenshot.

The massively popular mobile game, according to a GameSpot report, has already surpassed $1.5 billion in microtransaction sales across iOS and Android devices. This includes the total money its players have spent since it was first launched back in October 2019, meaning it achieved the feat in only two and a half years.

These numbers come from a report by Sensor Tower, which also revealed other interesting tidbits about the game. For instance, during "Call Of Duty's" record 2021 in terms of revenue, "Call Of Duty Mobile" was ranked as the 14th-biggest revenue-generating mobile game on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

As a result, this made the game the 3rd most popular mobile shooter title, behind perennial contenders "Garena Free Fire" and topnotcher "PUBG Mobile."

Aside from that, the mobile shooter is also making a killing in the United States. It generated over $647 million in total revenues in the country, which is almost half (43 percent) of global player spending. It is followed by Japan and China in second and third places, respectively.

But while this sounds like a massive amount of money (especially from microtransaction revenue alone), this isn't really something new for "Call Of Duty Mobile." It has proven its crazy earning potential early on in its release. One notable achievement was the game's almost $500 million in earnings in a single year back in 2020 (via TweakTown).

With just how successful mobile shooters have become over the past few years, it is no secret that other franchises like "Apex Legends" and the "Battlefield" series are going the same route soon enough. Mobile gaming in itself has seen a resurgence in recent times, perhaps mainly due to how mainstream gaming systems have been a little out of reach for the normal folk.

More Revenue For 'Call Of Duty Mobile' Soon?

If you haven't heard, there are reports that Activision Blizzard is finally letting the COD franchise take a break after almost two decades of yearly releases. Various sources have told Bloomberg's Jason Schreier that the next "Call Of Duty" game after this year's offering will reportedly release in 2024, meaning there's no mainline series entry planned for next year.

With no mainline entry into the "Call Of Duty" franchise, Activision Blizzard will have to keep supporting its currently existing games for the next few years with new content. This obviously includes "Warzone," the still-unannounced 2022 "Modern Warfare" release, and "Call Of Duty Mobile."

The mobile game itself will likely see even greater player spending as folks will be without the main game for next year. Or maybe mobile gaming will keep on growing as it has always been for the past few years. Either way, it seems like ActiBlizz will keep counting their cash from their mobile IP moving forward.
