It's been a while since a game took us to the land of Middle-Earth (at least in a non-LEGO sense), but now we've got a date for the highly-anticipated Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
The third-person open-world action game follows the adventures of Tailon, a ranger with vengeance against Sauron on his mind after the dark lord killed his family. The game will be launching on October 7 of this year, and Warner Bros. Games revealed today what would be included for pre-orderers as well.
Anyone who pre-orders the game will receive access to the "Dark Ranger exclusive bonus pack," which includes:
- Dark Ranger Character Skin: A skin that "embodies Tailon's darker side.
- "Test of Power" challenge mode: A bonus mode available before the game's launch where you can face Sauron's captains and gain runes for when the game launches.
- "Test of Power" leaderboards, where you can compare yourself to your friends.
Warner Bros. also released the box art for the game, and it looks pretty cool.
Shadow of Mordor sounds really promising, offering an Assassin's Creed-like experience in Mordor, which should be a refreshing change of pace for the LOTR games. It's also being developed mostly with Xbox One and PS4 in mind, meaning that this could really be one of the showcase games for the new consoles this fall, along with Batman: Arkham Knight, Assassin's Creed: Unity and others.
What do you think of the pre-order bonuses and box art? Does this cement the game as a must-have, or would you like a little more for being an early adopter? Check out the newest trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
