'Chocobo GP' Brings in Seasonal Prize Pass, Free 'Lite' Version

Square Enix released new details regarding Chocobo GP, a Final Fantasy-themed cart racing game for the Nintendo Switch, including the contents of its first seasonal Prize Pass and a free "Chocobo GP Lite" version.

They also announced that the game is open for digital pre-order on Nintendo Game Store to make players anticipate its March 10 release.

Season Pass

One of the things that Square Enix announced for Chocobo GP is the introduction of its Season One, along with its Season Pass.

During Season One, according to Gaming Bolt, players can participate in Chocobo GP Mode, a 64-player bracket-style tournament that allows them to raise their Season Score and Season Level.

Once they earned enough Season Score or gained a specific Season Level, they can earn special rewards.

Also added in the game is the Prize Pass that gives them access to additional rewards and an ability to earn resources such as Gil. These Gil can be used to spend for additional in-game rewards at the Gil Shop.

According to Nintendo Life, players will receive 800 Mythril for their Prize Pass as their log-in bonus to celebrate the opening of Season One of Choco GP after its March release.

This will automatically unlock Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII that they can use as their racer in the game.

On the other hand, they can obtain Squall from Final Fantasy VIII in the Gil Shop if they purchase the full game.

What to Expect

Players can enjoy these newly added features in Chocobo GP in two ways. According to ComingSoon.net, they can either purchase the full game or play its Chocobo GP Lite mode for free.

In Chocobo GP Liteplayers are allowed to try out both the single and multiplayer modes while joining local multiplayer races hosted by those who own the full game.

This means that they can also use the available courses in the game, such as the Chocobo FarmCid's Test TrackMonster VillageZozoAlexandriaBig Bridge, and Gold Saucer.

They can also save their in-game process. However, they will have a limited number of racers as the Chocobo GP Lite will not have as many characters as the full version of the game.

They can't create multiplayer lobbies or participate in online races outside of the Chocobo GP Mode.

If they purchased the full game, they could get the game's full roster of racers.

Aside from the returning characters from the original Chocobo Racing game, such as Chocobo, Camilla, Atla, and Shiroma, they can also pick characters from the different Final Fantasy games.

According to RPGSite.net, these include Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy V, Terra Branford and Maduin from Final Fantasy VI, Steiner and Vivi from Final Fantasy IX, Mecha Chocobo from World of Final Fantasy, and familiar summons in the franchise such as Asura, Titan, Sylph, Ramuh, and Shiva.

Also in the game, players are allowed to customize the looks of the characters and their respective vehicles with a range of stickers and colors.
