Wizards of the Coast revealed a brand new set of cards that will be released in Magic: The Gathering's newest Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, which takes the tabletop trading card game players back to the land of Kamigawa.
This time, for this expansion, it is dominated by neon lights and futuristic buildings, but the Japanese aesthetics remained in both its lore and its card arts.
What to Expect
Months before their new reveal, Wizards of the Coast first shown in their Weekly MTG livestream the new Legendary Planeswalker for the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Expansion Set, which is Kaito Shizuki, a Blue and Black ninja whose Spark was ignited by Himoto, the Kami of the Spark.

In the lore, according to Comicbook, the said ninja is a friend of the emperor during their youth, but she went missing after being attacked by Tezzeret. The said emperor was later revealed to be traveling in the planes as a Wanderer, shown in her card form.

According to Dot Esports, The Wandering Emperor is a Legendary Planeswalker that costs2 of any Mana and 2 more White Mana, and it has a Flash ability, and it can activate its loyalty abilities any time its controller could cast an instant.
If the controller puts a +1 counter on it, they will put a +1/+1 counter on a target creature while giving it First Strike until the end of turn. If they removed a counter on this card, it would create a 2/2 white Samurai creature token with Vigilance, and if they removed two more counters, they would exile any tapped creature in the field while gaining themselves 2 Life.
Tezzeret, on the other hand, will also become a Legendary Planeswalker in the form of Tezzeret, Betrayer of Flesh. This card needs two of any Mana and two Blue Mana to summon, and when it is on the field, any Artifact whose first ability will be activated each turn will now cost 2 Mana less.
If they put a counter on this card, the controller will draw two cards, then they will discard two cards unless they will discard an Artifact. If they removed two counters, they would target an Artifact to turn into a 4/4 Artifact Creature if it is not a Vehicle.
If they remove 6 more counter, they will get an emblem that lets them draw a card every time an Artifact they control becomes tapped.
Aside from the two new Legendary Planeswalkers, the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Expansion Set will bring back a card mechanic called "Ninjutsu." According to The Game Haus, the said mechanic was first seen in the first Kamigawa set of the card game.
Creatures who had said mechanic will make its controller pay a certain amount of Mana to return any unblocked attacker they controller to their hand, while putting them onto the field from their hand tapped. They will be the ones who will be attacking.
Another mechanic that will be introduced in Magic: The Gathering courtesy of the said Expansion Pack is "Modified," a new card keyword that will describe a Creature that is equipped with an Equipment Card or an Aura Enchantment Card. Creatures that have counters on them are also counted as "Modified."
Several cards in the Expansion Set had effects that could be triggered if they controlled a "modified" Creature. One of which is Goro-Goro, Disciple of Ryusei, a 2/2 Red Goblin Samurai Legendary Creature that lets its controller create a 5/5 Red Dragon Spirit Creature Token with flying as long as they have an attacking "modified" Creature on their side of the field.
"Reconfigure," another new mechanic that will be introduced, lets them attach the card to a target Creature that they control. While attached, the said card will not be treated as a Creature, and they can unattach them from the said target Creature.
One example of the cards that have "Reconfigure" is The Reality Chip, a 0/4 Blue Equipment Jellyfish Creature that lets its controller look at the top card play of their Library, and if it is a Land or a Spell, they can cast it, as long as it is attached to a Creature.
Finally, the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Expansion Set will introduce the new double-faced Saga cards. These special Enchantment cards have a unique mechanic - once they put the third counter onto the said card, they Exile it, then they will return it to the Field "transformed" as an Enchantment Creature.
Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Expansion Set will be made available digitally in both Magic: the Gathering Online and MTG Arena on February 10, while the physical version will be available in card shops on February 18.
