In Car Mechanic Simulator 2021, players can restore cars that are available, ranging from classic Americana muscle cars to compact cars to modern sports cars, using more than 4,000 car parts.
These cars can either be from those that are already installed in the game, from the downloadable content (DLC) car packs, or from the Steam Workshop where they can download car mods.
One of the said car mods is the one for the Chevrolet Lumina, a midsize car manufactured by Chevrolet from 1989 to 1994. The said version used in the game is a Stockcar one that is used in NASCAR's Winston Cup Series.
How to Restore a Chevrolet Lumina
Once they have downloaded the car mod file from the Steam Workshop, and pasted it in the game's folder, they will find, and buy, the Chevrolet Lumina in the Junkyard, the Car Auctions, and the Car Salon.
After they purchased the car, according to Boblas' YouTube video, they will wash its body and interior in the Car Wash, then move it to one of the Car Lifts that are in the Garage.
From there, they will drain the oil that is remaining inside the engine using the Oil Drain machine, then they will also drain the rest of the fluids that are in their respective reservoirs such as the brake fluid, the coolant, and the power steering fluid using the Drain Tool.
Once they have finished draining the oil and the fluids, they will disassemble the whole car, and get the parts that will be repaired and replaced, until what is left on the Car Lift is the body frame, which they will need to repair using the Wielding Machine and detail the interior.
Then, they will repair the parts that they can still use in the restoration project by placing them on the Repair Tables that are in the Workshop. From there, they will play a minigame where they will accurately hit the green tabs in order to fully fix the said parts.
On the other hand, the parts that cannot be repaired will be instead sold for additional Credits, which they can use to buy for new replacement parts. If they bought the car in the Junkyard, they will also buy the parts that are missing.
Once they have the repaired and replaced parts, they can start reassembling the whole Chevrolet Lumina, starting with its engine, which is a V8 1carb OHV.
In order to build it on the Engine Stand, they will need the engine block, the crankshaft, the camshaft, the eight pistons with their rings, the crankshaft bearing caps, the rod caps, the oil pan, the oil filter, the flywheel, the clutch plate, the clutch pressure plate, and the clutch release bearing.
They will also need the engine heads, the valve push rods, the rocker arms, the engine head covers, the exhaust manifolds, the spark plugs, the intake manifold, the fuel filter, the carburetor, and the air filter with the base and cover.
They will also need the power steering pump, the alternator, the ignition coil, the ignition distributor with the rotor, cap and clips, the ignition wires, the cam gear, the timing chain, the timing cover, the crankshaft pulley, the water pump and pulley, the serpentine belts, and the radiator fan.
Once they have finished building the whole engine, they will remove it from the Engine Stand, and install it inside the car's engine bay using the Engine Pulley.
Then, they install its internal parts such as the gearbox, the starter, the battery, the reservoirs, the brake servo, the fuel tank and pump, and the radiator.
Then, they will install the rest of the parts, including those for the exhaust pipes, the suspension, and the braking system, as well as the engine cover, the tires and rims, the body kit, the windshield and other glass panels for the windows, and the parts for the interior such as the steering wheel and the seats.
After they rebuild the whole car, they will fill the engine and the reservoirs with a new batch of oil and other fluids, then they will paint the body with the color of their choice in the Paint Booth.
Then, they will move it to the Test Path room to realign the lights and wheels, as well as to test the newly-installed braking system.
Then, they will move it to the Dyno Test room to tune up the gears in the gearbox and to perform a dyno test to check the performance of the newly-built engine.
Once they are satisfied with the results, they can test run their restored Chevrolet Lumina, which they can either keep for their collection or sell it for additional Credits.
