Titanfall has taken Twitch by storm, Microsoft reports, with an impressive number of people using the Xbox One's built-in streaming functionality to host videos of themselves playing the online shooter.
The software giant revealed several statistics about Twitch streaming and the Xbox One, the most notable being that around 30 per cent of all Twitch streams consisted of players broadcasting Titanfall from Xbox One on the game's launch day. Roughly 108,000 unique players tried out the Twitch broadcasting functionality for Xbox One that week, which was the first time it was available.
Microsoft took a stab at Sony, too, citing the less impressive PS4 Twitch use. "It took another console a month to achieve what the Twitch app on Xbox One did within its first week," they wrote. However, PS4's Twitch service launched with the console, not down the road like Xbox One's, and thus had a lower install base in its opening month.
In addition, the major software release, Titanfall, definitely played a role in boosting those numbers--PS4 didn't have a big game people were eager to stream, though they might now with Infamous: Second Son.
Microsoft's numbers hold true nonetheless, and they will be pleased with the console's streaming use so far. Some other statistics they revealed include the average Xbox One broadcast length (28 minutes) and total minutes streamed from the console by users (23 million). Of those total minutes, 10 million were of Titanfall alone, making it by far the most-streamed game on Xbox One.
There hasn't been an update from Sony in a while regarding PS4's Twitch usage, but expect to hear from them soon if the release of Infamous: Second Son helped boost their numbers.
