Collector's and special editions of games traditionally come with the occassional added content, art books, soundtracks, posters, and, a shiny, overpriced, albeit cool, piece of plastic. Enjoyable, but collectable? At best they make for a nice decoration atop a table or shelf. Contrary to tradition, Bandai Namco is now offering up a collectable that's actually worth something, and all for a good cause.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle has a one of a kind Exquisite Edition, and it's currently up for auction for more than $400. What about it makes it so expensive?
That'd be the "amazing and very rare Swarovski figurine made out of 6000 Swarovski crystals," according to a press release. You can see the glitzy statue above looking rather like how I assume Liberace would envision himself as a comic book hero.
The figurine stands about 7in tall, and is worth an estimated €2000, or about $2750. Which is unfortunate, because the highest bid on the edition is currently about $435, less than a fifth of the edition's estimated value.
While I have no idea who would so desire just such an item, at least it's all done for a good cause. Bandai Namco donated the special edition for charity GamesAid to auction off. The proceeds from the auction will be divided between a small group of British based youth and children's charities.
Head here if you feel like making an auction, but be quick about it. The auction closes on April 5. For anyone who wants a statueless and cheaper version of the game, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle hits the PlayStation 3 exclusively in late April.
